Proper Care and Maintenance of Your Hair Extensions

A Comprehensive Guide:

Congratulations on your new hair extensions! To ensure their longevity and maintain a flawless appearance, it's crucial to follow some essential care tips. Here's a detailed guide to help you navigate through the first few days after installation and beyond:

1. Post-Installation Care:
After the installation of your hair extensions, refrain from washing your hair or the extensions for the initial 48 hours. This allows the bonds to set properly.

You might experience a tension headache during the initial days; however, rest assured, this discomfort is temporary and will diminish with time and regular wear.

2. Sleeping with Extensions:
To prevent matting and tangling, it's imperative to ensure that your hair, especially at the root, is completely dry before going to bed.

Secure your hair at the nape of your neck by either tying it into a loose ponytail or braiding it. Avoid high ponytails or buns as they can cause tension at the root, leading to discomfort.

3. Brushing Your Extensions:
Use an extension-friendly brush, such as the Tangle Teezer, to gently brush your hair and extensions row by row. Start from the ends, working your way up while holding your hair in a ponytail.

Brush above the extension attachment at the roots to prevent matting or tangles. It's safe to brush dry hair thoroughly before showering and before bedtime. Aim for at least three brushing sessions per day.

4. Cleaning Your Extensions:
Maintain the quality of your extensions by using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. We strongly recommend salon-grade products to ensure optimal results.

Wash your hair at least once or twice a week, using an upright position and washing in one direction. Avoid getting conditioner or treatments on the bonds, as this may cause them to slide down or break.

Shampoo twice during each wash to remove any residue, dirt, and oils from the scalp and attachment point. Built-up residue can lead to irritation and discomfort.

5. General Care for Your Extensions:
When swimming in chlorinated water, always wear a cap to protect your hair from chlorine exposure.

In hot tubs or saunas, secure your hair and avoid submerging it in water, as this can damage the bonds and cause dryness and frizz.

Guard against overexposure to chlorine, sunscreen, tanning lotion, saltwater, and sulfur, as these elements can compromise the integrity of the bonds, leading to premature fallout or tangling.

We strongly advise against tinting, coloring, perming, or subjecting your hair extensions to additional processes. Seabeauty is not liable for any damage resulting from such actions.

Avoid attempting to remove hair extensions yourself; it's highly recommended to have them professionally removed to prevent damage to your natural hair.

Do not flat iron or apply excessive heat directly to the bonds, as they were initially installed using heat.

For keratin bonds, it's normal to lose up to 10-15 bonds per month.

Follow these guidelines diligently, and your hair extensions will maintain their beauty and integrity for an extended period. If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to consult with our professional team. Happy styling!
